COVID-19 AND LIFE IN CONGO

Dear Friends!

With COVID-19 now present in DR Congo, the children and staff at St. Kizito face serious danger, not only from the virus but from rapid food shortage. This week Congo closed its borders with Uganda where we get nearly all of our provisions. As a result, prices on essential staples such as flour and formula have doubled in the local markets.

Please consider donating today so we can meet this urgent shortfall.

Meanwhile fighting in Djugu territory, 75 kilometers north of Bunia, has sent villagers feeing into the surrounding hills where they’re twice as vulnerable to the plague. On Friday we received a newborn named Singoma whose parents were murdered and who sustained injuries of his own. Singoma will live, but it’s up to us to make sure that he and the 88 other children at St. Kizito remain fed and protected from a virus that stalks the most vulnerable. Several of our children have underlying health problems that make them more susceptible.

So we’re asking today for a substantial gift or perhaps a recurring donation of as little as $10 a month. These frightening and unprecedented times require bold and unprecedented commitments.

We stand by our kids, and we hope you will stand along with us. Thank you.
